CGL Web Map Help
Introduction:
This map is based on Google Maps and therefore has all the same functionality of Google Maps plus the ability to customize the map with the CGL layers.

In the legend:

  • Click on the checkbox next to the legend item to turn on an overlay layer.
  • Click on the legend iconL to view layer's legend.
  • Click on the layer-name to view the layer's metadata (information).
  • If you turn off an overlay that coincides with another layer, you may need to toggle the visible layer off/on to redraw the remaining layer.
  • Layers are drawn in the order of the legend. If there is a layer above another layer only the top layer will show.
On the Map:
  • Use the Google zoom tools in the upper left of the map to zoom in, out and pan the map
  • Click the Zoom Tool L and draw a box to zoom into an area of the map.
  • You can also click and drag the mouse across the map window to pan the map
  • Use the map selection menu in the upper right of the map to select the background for the map. Choices are:
    • Map - Google 2-d base map.
    • Satellite - Google satellite map.
    • Hybrid - Google satellite map with lables and base map data.
    • AK DRG - USGS topographic maps from Alaskamapped.org.
    • AK Imagery - Best available satellite images from Alaskamapped.org.
    • Terrain - Google terrain map (default).
On the Page:
  • Click on the Map button to open the map page.
  • Click the Downloads button to open the downloads page.
  • Click the Project Description button to view the description page.
